Virginia Beach

Our Favorite Virginia Beach Wedding Venues

Venues.Virginia Beach.jpg

There are some pretty amazing wedding venues in Norfolk, but Virginia Beach might just take the cake for most wedding venues in Hampton Roads, because there are SO MANY hotels in Town Center and the Oceanfront. For today, I’m just going to focus on venues spaces, although I will let one hotel sneak in, because Founder’s Inn is such a great spot!

Our Favorite Norfolk Wedding Venues

Venues.Norfolk.jpg

Virginia has so many amazing wedding venues that it’s a little difficult to list them all out. Today we’re kicking off a three part series of our favorite wedding venues in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and the peninsula. And we’ll throw in the best of Suffolk, Portsmouth, and Chesapeake along the way.

Here are our favorite wedding venues in Norfolk:

The Chrysler Museum of Art - Norfolk

The architecture of the Chrysler Museum of Art is stunning and it’s a venue that is sure to wow your guests. They have outdoor and indoor options for cocktail hour, and the stone staircase in Huber Court makes for a truly grand entrance! We absolutely love this venue! View more here: Chrysler Museum of Art Wedding.

Norfolk Botanical Garden Wedding_0125_WEB.jpg

The Botanical Garden - Norfolk

With acres of beautiful landscaping and flowers, the Norfolk Botanical Gardens is a gorgeous venue for an outdoor wedding! Each area of the gardens offers something different, and it's all beautiful! (See the different areas of the garden here.) After a garden ceremony, the reception can be held inside one of their three spaces or tented on the lawn. We love this venue so much, because so many of our CGP couples choose romantic outdoor weddings! We’ve done a ton of weddings here, but we’ll never get tired of this venue! View a Wildflower Meadow & Baker Hall Wedding, a Renaissance Court & Rose Garden Hall Wedding, and an outdoor Terrace Reception.

Virginia Zoo Norfolk Wedding_0075_WEB.jpg

Our Favorite 2017 Wedding Photos

Wow... 2017. This year has so different from previous years with CGP! Ryan and I were a husband and wife photography team last year, but since I was pregnant, I felt like Ryan often got stuck with the 'pack horse' and 'go fetch' type duties. This year we could really find our groove in what it means to be a team. And I can have my favorite (but super heavy) lens back! For the first time since going full time nearly 4 years ago, I've had limited work hours. (Hello, motherhood!) There was a little more coordination involved in scheduling shoots (Thank you, Nana, for babysitting!) and wedding days meant not seeing Darcy until the next morning when I picked him up.

Because of all this transition, we took on fewer weddings this year, no double headers, and just one destination wedding. (We're so excited to be back to a full schedule in 2018!) We couldn't have asked for better couples this year! They've had the most beautiful, meaningful weddings and we've been so honored to be chosen to photograph them.

So let's raise mugs of peppermint hot chocolate and toast to an amazing 2017 wedding season, working alongside some of our favorite vendors at some of our favorite venues like the Norfolk Botanical Garden, the new Noah's in Chesapeake, and the new Historic Post Office in Hampton! Enjoy our favorite images from 2017!

Our Favorite 2017 Engagement & Portrait Photos

Best of 2017 Engagements.jpg

I love looking back over the year at all the beautiful images we've taken. Our engagement session season (usually March to June) always seems so long ago! This year's engagement sessions stayed close to home, shooting some of our favorite locations in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.

I always tell couples that the engagement session is not just about creating beautiful photos. It's such an important time, because it's their chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and learn how I direct them through posing. But my favorite part is probably getting to hear how they fell in love and got engaged! Here are a few of my favorites from this year's engagement sessions.

Blue and pink floral seem to be in this year! I love it!

If you're thinking this blog post seems a little light on ring shots... just wait! We like to 'ring' in the new year around here! All those pretty diamonds are coming soon!

Are you newly engaged and planning your wedding? We are booking 2018 now, so drop us an email to say hello and see if we're available for your wedding day!

Natalie & Tony - Virginia Beach Engagement Session

It had been a really rough day at work. She had vented about it to Tony and now she just wanted to push past it and enjoy the evening. They were headed to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with their parents. As soon as Tony decided which shirt he wanted to wear.

After dinner, Natalie’s mom wanted to show her a funny cat video she had found. But when Natalie looked at the screen, she saw a photo of her and Tony, and then another and another. A thousand things rushed through her mind as she watched the slideshow. And then… a picture of Tony’s nephew, holding a sign that read “Will you be my aunt?” Then Tony’s sister, “Will you be my sister?” And Tony’s parents, “Will you be our daughter?” Then the slideshow instructed her to go to the backyard.

She walked slowly to the door and opened it. Tony stood in the backyard, surrounded by candles and rose petals, with a ring in his hand. And just like that, her really bad day became one of her favorite days.

Natalie & Tony are getting married this fall at the Historic Post Office! Ryan and I are so excited for their wedding day with Kelsey Ann Events!
