Today I wanted to cover some of the frequently asked questions I get from inquiring brides.
Q: Can you hold our date while we think about booking with you?
A: I wish I could, but most of the time couples who decide not to book simply don’t email back. So I have no way of knowing if they've reached their decision yet. And I can’t turn down couples who request the same date in the meantime. I can’t hold any date without the signed contract and 50% retainer. And sometimes bookings happen very quickly, so I can’t give you any notice that another couple has requested the same date as you.
Q: If my wedding is on a Saturday, will you book a wedding on Friday?
A: No. I only book one CGP wedding each weekend, because I want to be the most energized and creative version of myself. I also want to be completely available to you in the days leading up to your wedding. I won’t even agree to 2nd shoot with another photographer that weekend unless it falls after your wedding day.
Q: What if 7 hours isn't enough coverage for my wedding?
A: No problem! After we've built the timeline, we can add additional hours! I find that most couples end up needing 9-10 hours.
Q: I've been to some weddings where the photographer was up at the altar and in everyone’s way. Are you going to do that?
A: No way! Ceremonies are very important and sacred and my goal is always to be very discreet. I will stay towards the back and far sides so that I’m not obstructing the view of the guests and drawing attention to myself.
Q: My family wants duplicates of the wedding images. Is that possible?
A: Absolutely! In fact, I deliver my images through the Cloud, so you can download them onto your hard drive quickly and easily. Then you can send the link to your friends and family and they’ll have access to download the images as well. Quick and easy! And then you don’t have to worry about your aunt coming to you to make prints. She’ll have the files on her computer!
Q: Do you attend the rehearsal?
A: No. Most wedding ceremonies have the same general flow and we’ve already discussed if you have any special songs or if you’re doing a unity ceremony, so I know what to prepare for.
Q: Do you offer Day-After Sessions?
A: YES! I love Day-After Sessions and Trash the Dress Sessions (although I prefer sessions that don’t actually damage the dress). These sessions are the same price as my add-on bridal session and can be schedule any time after the wedding day.
Q: Why do you charge for travel?
A: While I love to travel for weddings, it’s an added cost to me. My wedding collections are built around the costs that I have and the amount of money I need from each wedding to support my family. It would be unfair to my local clients to build my travel costs into my regular wedding collections, so I have to charge based on the travel required for each wedding. However, I think you’ll find that my travel fees are very reasonable.
Q: Another photographer is offering the same package as you, but for $XXX less. Will you meet their price?
A: A lot of what I offer brides is my style, my creative eye, and my attention to detail. You can’t really compare that to another photographer. So while the packages look the same on paper, you’re really looking at two photographers with different gear, experience, costs, personalities, and shooting/editing styles. So to answer the question directly, no. My prices are based on my work and what I offer and it’s not really comparable to someone else.
And that’s the FAQ with CGP!
